We Can Work It Out (See Jane Sweat)
If you’re looking for a work out buddy, keep searching. I’m not athletic. I hate working out. It’s not that I need to get back on the wagon, it’s that I missed the wagon in the first place. I know that exercise is essential to my health and out of all exercise, I prefer basic yoga best (unfortunately, I’m not too good at it). Nevertheless, I went to Bikram Yoga last week for the first time and…it actually wasn’t bad considering the horror stories I’ve heard. I survived. To distract myself from the stifling heat and pitter-patter sounds of dripping sweat , I conjured up new workout outfits. In all honestly, I haven’t bought new ones in an embarrassingly long time–maybe since college. Yikes. If I want to continue this health kick, I’m going to need some new gym clothes!
What do you suggest? Is it Lululemon or bust?
Oh Man, this post reminds me to exercize, and yoga basic sounds good. I did pilates years ago and was really enjoying it, perhaps I should go back to that?
Wishing you a lovely day
XOXO

Sigh … Birkam yoga was my favorite workout of all time … loved it. I would always get there early to get a spot in the front row – helped cut down on being grossed out by everybody's sweaty junk. Hahaha
You're probably right … exercise is sorta important, but I don't do it either! Maybe new workout clothes will inspire both of us to sweat a little more. I prefer to stay home and pop in a workout DVD, so a new outfit isn't necessary, just more motivating! Let us know what you find!
New gym clothes…..fun:)
Read my interview w/Susan from ModCloth♥
I heard nothing but amazing things about Lululemon!
Love that photo, reminds me of my gymnastics days 😉
and I never work out either, so I don't have gym clothes XDD

For hot yoga I swear by Lululemon. It doesn't ride up and it soaks up sweat so you don't feel like a sweaty mess.
That photo is incredible..I would love to be able to do this…I am all for yoga but the one thing I do each day is swim…I find it really relaxing…Good luck, sweetie
yes the new clothes will def help! I love working out, and find it very relaxing! And yes you NEED to Lululemon-it! Their pants are the best, seriously – plus they tailor then to the perfect length, so no high-waters or dragging pants – girls gots to look cute even at the gym!
i like nike yoga clothes a lot better than lululemon. in my opinion, they are equally cute, do not ride up, soak up sweat, and don't have that lululemon culture attached to them — i.e., spend over a hundred bucks on a pair of sweatpants, and you will be good at yoga. i do, however, have tons of friends that love lululemon!
I give you SO much credit for trying bikram.
I know nothing about exercise or exercise clothing. It's foreign to me 🙁
xx
I haven't gone to yoga in months. Lately, I've had a strained back but I'm going to start it up again in a couple of weeks.
As for workout clothing, I don't spend too much $$ on it. They tend to get tucked away in the back of my closet (lol). I still have capri type yoga pants from back when I got them at Off the Wall.
Have a great day Anna Jane. Hope the weather is less dreary today 🙂

Go with lululemon. It's expensive, yes but it lasts and the fabric doesn't stick when you're sweating up a storm. I still have lulu pants that I wear from 8 years ago. It's the most comfortable work-out attire I've found so far.
love love love lululemon! the clothes are great but a tad expensive but i wear them all the time!

I love hot yoga!! You should definitely try the core power studios in chicago, they're amazing. The South Loop one is huge and has the best views of the city and free parking!
anyway…hot yoga = sweaty mess so definitely get the material that wicks away sweat. My personal fave is Lulu but it's also hella expensive. That being said, I swear all my stuff lasts forever so it's worth the $.
bikram yoga is soooo hard! it's mission impossible trying to get myself to go back. i say it's not a bust– go for workout pieces you can also wash and wear out!

Yoga is definitely my favorite workout too. I've never actually tried hot yoga though! Good for you for doing it! I've tried all kinds of workout gear and I swear by lululemon. It's the only brand I've had that lasts, holds it's shape, is flattering, and stays in place during the workout. It's definitely a bit of a splurge for workout gear, but I think it's worth it. My favorites are the wunder under crops, scoop neck tanks, and power y tanks.

I have never done bikram, it kind of scares me! i'd be the one in the back passing out..
i love that photo! wish i could do that pose! 🙂

i don't know diddly about working out either – if it's not jillian michaels in my living room (where i can potentially die in the comfort of my own home) it's not happening. i do walk outside however – and lululemon is the way to go!! all the way!
xoxo,

hi jane! i just stumbled upon your sweet little blog and couldn't help but hit the follow button! i look forward to following your adventures in the months to come! xo
I went a LONG time without working out — I despise it. It's not even the pain or the idea of getting all sweaty (though neither is appealing), it's really just that I get so bored. Regardless, I pound it out faithfully on the treadmill and do yoga when I have the time. I love Lululemon, and HardTail makes such good yoga pants — I swear, I get more flexible when I put them on.

I'm all about Marshall's or TJ Maxx for my workout clothes. Which btw, have not been getting used a lot lately ; /
Haha I dont think the workout bandwagon has ever driven by me! I just got some yoga/pilates DVDs that I need to stick to..maybe some Lululemon would be enough of an investment to get into it. If you try them out, let us know what you think!

Love this post, Jane! I totally love Bikram too, but don't go nearly enough, but of all the yoga I've practiced, it gives the best results. I am am dying for Lululemon gym clothes, but they are a small fortune. The clothes I have from Target do the job.

oh ugggh i dread every workout-if i didn't care about fitting into my favorite clothes i swear i'd never hit the gym 🙂 i've heard fab things about lululemon-but workout wear is like car expenses to me-there's about a million other things i'd rather spend my $ on 🙂

I want to do yoga for a long time, looks so relaxing and a good work out at the same time.

Altheta (branch of piperlime and banana republic) VS Sport, and when I'm in a bind TJ's has great stuff for $10 bucks so if you don't love it who cares!
This is my first time i visit here. I found so many interesting stuff in your blog especially its discussion. From the tons of comments on your articles, I guess I am not the only one having all the enjoyment here! keep up the good work..
I am actually a huge fan of Ayayay yoga/pilates outfits and they are brand new so nobody has them yet and they are so cute! I have purple spandex capris and the turquoise bra and halter hoodie top. ayayay.com
