Coldest Day On Record in Chicago + How You Can Help

I’m all about trying to stay fashionable in the winter weather, but if I’m being honest, some days, there’s no use trying.  If you’re in the midwest, you know that this week is about to be brutal.  Reports are saying it could be the coldest day on record in Chicago–that’s insane!  This is not a look for one of those days; this is a look for when it’s in the high 20s and up.  When it’s -20 out, you should go outside as little as possible and if you MUST go, you wear the floor length parka, cover all skin and make a run for it. I gotta say, I feel bad for our dog, Jerome.  No one wants to go outside in that.

Also, people cannot survive being outside in weather like this and being that Chicago is a large city, we have thousands who are homeless.  Consider donating time, money, or warm clothing to outreach programs to help keep these people safe from the cold.  Here are a few places that are accepting donations:

Franciscan Outreach (in Wicker Park – my old ‘hood!)

One Warm Coat (this is national – locations throughout the US!)

Donate to Peoples Gas to help heat someone else’s home
