It’s my favorite time of the week: Real Outfit Recap!  We made it through another week, gang.  It went by so quickly and it’s dawning on me that we’re moving soon.  I’m going to be sharing all of our home progress along the way (especially on IG stories) so be sure to follow me over there.  If you’re new here, here’s a little background context:  we’re making the move to the northern suburbs in early April . We purchased a 1926 Tudor-style home that is in wonderful shape but there are lots of cosmetic changes I’m going to make.  Before we move in, we’re skim-coating the plaster walls (they were pretty bumpy), painting the entire house (except bedrooms) and moldings, and re-finishing the original hardwood floors.  So far, so good!  Once we move in, we’ll be taking on meatier projects, like the master bath (it’s….tiny).  Also, the closets are basically non-existent.  Either way, renovating an old house has always been a dream of mine so I’m excited to do it!  Can’t wait to share the journey.  (Any questions, just let me know in the comments.)

  1. Can’t help but want to know what northern suburb it is. I’m in Winnetka! We can’t rival the eateries of the city, but I hope you and your family love the burbs.

    • We’re moving to Winnetka! I’m definitely going to miss the city…I’m a little scared about the transition but excited for the house!

  2. Sarah Bradley says:

I saw your Insta story showing the floors all sanded. They totally reminded me of the J.Crew floors that are waxed oak that is GORGEOUS! Have you considered doing that?

    • I considered it! But the floor guy recommended not doing it because the floors are so old and you can see the gaps in the boards (they’re in good shape, considering, but they’re still 100 years old). He said a medium brown stain would help.

  3. Karen Graham says:

You are going to love Winnetka! Especially as summer approaches, so near the lake, great parks, beaches, sailing, bike paths, all right at your doorstep. Congrats!
