Weekender (See Jane Wear…On Sunday)

MBMJ coat, BB Dakota fur vest, Karen Kane polka dot blouse (c/o), Gap jeans, Dolce Vita boots, Warby Parker ‘Owen’ glasses

I have terrible vision; glasses aren’t something I’m seen in public often due to the sheer thickness of the lenses.  I know big frames have been trendy for awhile, but seeing as I wore these exact glasses as a first grader (it was NOT trendy then, I assure you), I had hesitation jumping on that wagon.  However, it’s been over five years since I’ve ordered new glasses so I bit the bullet and ordered some big ol’ Warby Parker frames.  They’re still thick and coke bottle-esque, which I think it gives me s street cred.  No fake glasses for me; oh no, these babies are 100% real and I have the prescription to prove it.

P.S.  This is a typical, cold-weather, weekend outfit for me–layers, boots and very minimal makeup; what’s yours?

  1. I don't usually get that dressed up on the weekend to do errands. I wear outfits that are usually pretty brutal unless I'm going out with friends or somewhere that's more exciting than the mall or gym.

I love the glasses on you- I think they totally suit you!

  2. I love the way your fur vest pokes out like a collar! And I don't have a need for prescription glasses but have always wanted them because all the cool kids are doing it! I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.

It is starting to get warmer here in Nashville and my go to weekend wear is colored skinny jeans + my chambray shirt and some light jackets.
Definitely not as pulled together as you!

  3. I love your glasses! They make me want glasses! I love them you went the bigger route
Also I really like bright blue jeans- which I think is the best color for the colored denim trend as it is not too shockingly bright

  4. I have been dying for a pair of warby parker eye glasses for quite sometime. I went to the eye doctor in hopes that I would magically have bad vision and need specs but no such luck. He told me to come back in a few years. Bum. Mer. Not wanting to lack street cred I have now moved onto convincing my boyfriend to get a pair of WPs so I can live through him. He needs coke-bottle glasses too.

    so jealous of yours!

  5. i love the fur trim of your jacket…. so delightful and ideal for the chill! layers, with a thick scarf and some thigh highs and a fur coat if i can swing it, are my favorite this biting time of the year, between winter and spring.

i, unfortunately, rock a pair of sarah palin-esque glasses, purchased at an unfortunate moment in 2006 or so. blast. been meaning to get me some new frames for awhile…. i love my contacts, but, i need glasses too!

  6. Pretty sure that picture is on my block! Well maybe not but looks like roscoe street came across it on pintrest. Love your fashion style neighbor!

  7. I think the glasses look awesome! I have a similar blindness issue–so much so that Warby Parker doesn't even have the capacity to make sunglasses in my prescription (weird, since I wear their regular glasses). Anyway, I've worn glasses since I was 9 years old, and I'm so glad to see them finally getting some love. They look great on you–embrace it!

  8. I love how you layered this! I NEVER would have thought to put on the fur vest. Great touch. And your glasses look awesome!! And since they are prescription gives you major street cred 🙂

  9. Those bright blue jeans really add a pop of color to your outfit! I need to invest in a pair of colored denim. Also, I understand your vision plight. I've been in glasses since the 4th grade & my prescription keeps decreasing with age – thank God for contacts, right?

  11. The glasses look fab on you! Being blind as a bat myself I was so relieved when glasses got trendy! My contact lens sore eyes thank me for it too. Plus, you aren't being a hipster when its with a prescription right?

  12. Loving those glasses on you Anna! I have to admit that for the longest time I WISHED for bad eye sight just so that I could wear glasses (and not feel like an idiot who wears fake glasses).

    I still wish for that….

  13. I have been "eyeing" this trend for a while. I have terrible vision too but not sure I can handle the weight with a high prescription. Are your glasses heavy?

  14. Love those boots! I am looking for them, are they flat or heeled? I found some almost the same except they have a med heel.

  15. I wore contacts for 10 years and unfortunately my eyes started getting too sensitive to them. When i had to start wearing glasses again I was really upset because I too have a high prescription and used to have super thick lenses. But nowadays you can get much thinner lenses and I've learn to love myself with glasses. those look great on you! This is a great outfit! It looks comfortable but very cute.
