Tips for Navigating the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Tips for Navigating the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Ohh, Nordstrom Anniversary Sale–contrary to what I originally thought, it’s still happening amid a pandemic.  So rather than inundate you over the next couple weeks, I’m just sharing a general guide of things to look out for and tips during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, sorted by category.  I’ve always been a big fan of Nordstrom, and even more so since I’ve worked them for a few years (I was an early employee at Trunk Club that was acquired by Nordstrom).  But I know the ins and outs and I also know how much the sale has seemed to evolved since even I worked there.

The past couple years has been largely the same–great deals on pretty basic items.  And it’s also a mix of “buy now, wear now” AND fall items, whereas in the past, it used to be strictly fall.  There used to be a lot of designer exclusives where brands would make items JUST for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (think Theory, Vince, ALC) ; while they still do that, I have noticed a lot of my favorite brands pulling back and there’s a bigger emphasis on Nordstrom’s in-house labels, like Halogen, Zella, and BP.  Makes sense from a margin perspective for Nordstrom.  But just a little hint that brands like Halogen, Zella, BP will all go on sale at 40% off come October (if it doesn’t sell out).

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Curated Tips

So, what I personally look out for are:

Special items that quickly sell out, items that won’t go on sale come October (because they’re gone), investment pieces that don’t tend to do on sale, or home/beauty deals that are made specially for the sale–it’s a great way to stock up or try something new.

You’re probably not surprised by how I’m covering it this year; I always want to keep it low-key and curated.  I usually pop into the store to see the goods but I’m definitely not doing that this year (and I know that is a huge bummer for sales associates).  So, this is what you’ll see and while I can’t shop quite yet, I will keep checking back on what I have my eye on until then.  For now, this is a great mix of what I want to buy and what I already own!  So sleep well knowing that I think these items are great.
