Polka Dot Midi Dress

I’m feeling the polka dots this spring.  There’s something so fun and punchy about them that makes me just think warm weather thoughts.  Speaking of warm weather, it’s not happening for us here in Chicago.  It’s cold out there (just look at the background of my photos–not a green leaf in sight) and this may be the worst time of year to get dressed.  Maybe you’re like me and just totally tempted by bright colors and loud patterns (like I was, at Nordstrom earlier this week–there’s so much cute stuff calling my name!) all while looking into your closet of dark neutral sweaters and jeans–just hating everything.  What’s a gal to do?  It may sound silly but incorporating spring pieces into my winter wardrobe really lifts my spirits.  Take this polka dot midi dress from Nordstrom: it’s flirty, lightweight and looks amazing without a jacket on top.  But you can also wear it with tights, knee high boots or even a fur jacket and it works.  These are the types of pieces that I buy now, truly wear now AND later.  And this is why I DO re-wear pieces…I just try and re-wear them in different ways.  It’s all in an effort to make my closet season-less (although yes, some things are designated just for winter, like a puffer jacket or just for summer, like shorts).
