Mod Men (See Jane Watch)
I was one of those people who had been waiting with bated breath for the Mad Men season 5 premiere after an excruciating 18 month hiatus. I’ve been obsessed with the show since it debuted in 2007 and have definitely enjoyed watching the characters, as well as the styles, evolve over the years. The show has resumed in 1966; it seems the stiff, 1950’s influence has vanished completely and the swinging 60s are in full force. I’m loving the bright colors, vivid prints, plaid sportcoats, mod dresses and exaggerated lashes. I found a Vogue cover from 1966, which perfectly exemplifies the times; conversely, I displayed some wild prints that I’m seeing from designers today. Are you open to the mod trend (again)?

GORGEOUS! love these retro pieces!!
the mod trend never really fails to please. while i love the classicism, the pristine tailoring, exuded in the 1950s and early 60s, the fresh and loose spirited mod look is incredible!

confesssion: I've never watched Mad Men.. but the swinging 60s sound much more appealing than the stiff 50s, and i love your picks!

just like the lady above me: I've never watched a single episode. I really should start! x
Love what you pulled together and LOVE the mod trend! It's probably my favorite era in fashion, so I'm always open to it's resurgence! 🙂
Definitely open to the mod trend…but the 50s were more flattering for me 😉 Love the Vogue cover you picked out, it is perfection…and can't wait to catch some Mad Men!

All through the premiere, I kept pointing out to my boyfriend, "Look how much shorter the skirts are! . . . Oh, now look how Peggy's dress is still more old fashioned, but Megan's is very cutting edge!" Eventually he was like, "I know, and that's all very interesting, but I can't hear what they're saying."
I just couldn't contain my excitement.
I am so open to the mod trend. I definitely think there are a lot of fun ways to dress this trend up or down! Love Mad Men so much too and am so happy it is back on!

I could definitely do the mod trend. All of the clothes and furniture in the episode last weekend were incredible. I'm on the hunt for that black mini with sheer long sleeves now.
