Dear Santa… (See Jane Plead With Santa)
My mom called me yesterday to read a letter she found that I wrote to Santa as a kid. We both laughed so hard that we cried as she read it out loud to me over the phone. As an adult, it’s easy to lose sight of the excitement of Christmas and the holiday season; I know I’m guilty of sighing to others, ‘ugh, I’m so busy right now and this time of year is so crazy” but sometimes you need to take a step back, soak it in and maybe even revert back to childhood (I think this was 2nd grade) for a minute.
A couple things about this letter:
- Clearly, I was pulling the guilty/admission stunt so that Santa would have some pity on my naughty self.
- I’m still waiting on that Nintendo.
- Santa always wrote me back (and his handwriting was awfully similar to my Dad’s…)
- Mom, why don’t you still hang my ‘paper-shavings’ wreath up in your house?

Oh my goodness what a fantastic letter. Thanks for the laugh! I always got a letter back from Santa as well and half the years he had writing like Mum's and all the others the writing greatly resembled that of my dad. They must have thought they were pretty sneaky!

That is hilarious!! I love that your mom saved it. I especially love the part where you tell him to HELP HIMSELF but then ask that he not eat all the candy and hopes that he understands. Haha- love it! I completely agree- it's so important to remember the magic and excitement of the holidays that we felt as children!

every year, "Santa" wrote us a letter and hung it on our tree. I discovered Santa wasn't real when I finally realized that his handwriting was exactly the same as my Mom's. I still think it's funny (and maybe a little sad) that as a young kid, I could come to such a logical conclusion.
