Color I’m Loving: Dark Brown

Camel has been America’s Sweetheart when it comes to the neutral brown family.  She stole the show with her elegant camel coats (see various ways I’ve styled a camel coat here),  sophisticated camel-colored accessories, and ‘wear with everything’ camel-colored booties.  We’ve been all about camel for so long that it’s hard to think of another shade of brown that’s as chic.  Well, I’m happy to say that a rich, chocolate, dark brown has stolen my heart.

I think it started last year with these Vince suede boots.  I saw them and they, of course, came in black and also in a rich cognac (possibly the most popular boot color out there).  There was something about the chocolate brown that intrigued me.  I didn’t have anything in my closet like them.  And I knew they’d look awesome with any neutral skirt or dress that I owned (yes, even black).  Over one year later and I’m so glad I bought them.  I don’t have many pairs of tall boots but the dark brown works seamlessly in my wardrobe.  Next time, I’m going to wear this outfit with a dark brown skirt–monochromatic chocolate brown may sound hard to pull off (no one wants to hear a #2 joke in regards to their outfit), but trust me when it’s an impossibly chic look.  I’d also wear this look with a black skirt or pants, too!
