Shop Your Closet: Plaid Blazer

So, this blazer is more of a checked houndstooth pattern, and actually houndstooth is IN the plaid family, so we’re going with it and calling this #shopyourclosetseries “plaid blazer.”  This was the recent winner when I polled you all in what you wanted for the next #shopyourclosetseries, so here we go.  Plaid, checks, gingham, tartan, houndstooth–it’s all easy when you stick to the neutrals.  And by the way, it doesn’t need to be just jeans and boots–there’s so much more you can wear with a blazer!  I featured mules, flares, midi skirts and I’d also encourage you to don a plaid blazer over a sheath dress at the office or a sweater dress and boots for a more casual look.

Here’s a few tips from this series:

  • The Everlane blazer runs big (but it’s meant to be oversized!).  I’m wearing a 0 and it makes the sleeves a tad short, but I just push them up anyway.
  • Yesssss, I wear white pants year round.  Life’s too short, you know?  Plus, I love the winter white look.  These white jeans look so good paired with the fall tones of this Everlane blazer–there’s something so equestrian about it. (And hint: if you want to go all white underneath, break it up with a contrasting belt!)
  • Remember flares?  They remember you too and they miss you.  And they look so retro-chic with a blazer.  These flares would also look amazing with a heeled bootie.
