My Natural Deodorant Journey with Native
Last year, I went on a quest to make the full-time switch to natural deodorant. It came in tandem with other life changes I was making, like working out for the first time since college (I’m still going strong!) and also just trying to use more natural products in our family’s household. BUT, I’m no stranger to the natural deodorant movement; I’ve been dabbling in natural deodorant since high school (seriously, 15+ years) and I can tell you they’ve really made advancements in this arena. But I’ve also learned that your body chemistry has everything to do with how your pits adjust to natural deodorant–it’s a real testing game and I’m proud to say I’ve been going natural for the past year with NO cheating (what I used to do was go off on an with natural deodorant and my stick of Dove anti-perspirant). I’ve tried a lot of them and Native has always been on my list. So many people swear by it and I was anxious to get my hands on it. I’ve been using Native for about a month and, well, it’s legit. The scents are soft, not perfume-y and certainly not overpowering. I bought the travel sample pack because I wanted to try all the classic scents (I like the coconut vanilla–I know, I know, so does everybody else). I also bought Eric the travel sample pack because I’m trying to get him on the natural deodorant–slowly but surely he dabbling. Also, the men’s classic scents are amazing (try the eucalyptus mint)…so I might be stealing his. And since I’ve been on the natural deodorant train for the past year, here are some tips:
- If you have issues with natural deodorant like itchiness or redness, know it’s common and try the sensitive skin formulations.
- Give it time. That’s my biggest learning from my year of natural deodorant. Your body needs time to adjust to natural formulations and yeah, you’re going to sweat a little (PS it’s ok). I wouldn’t even make a call on whether you like it or not until it’s been a month.
- Give it a second application after you work out – it helps you stay fresh.
I plan on giving a full yearlong update later this fall….stay tuned!
*Thanks to Native for partnering with this post!
I actually don’t use deodorant that much at all anymore because I work from home and who is going to smell me, haha! But I do have dove for when I’m going out somewhere. Maybe I should try to get on the natural deodorant train…might be easier since my body is used to not using it often.

Yes! I’m not a sweaty person by nature but it’s nice to keep the odors at bay 😉
Have you tried the Megababe one? I finally got off the waitlist and just started using it. I’m shocked it really works!
I haven’t but I would love to try (I kind of want to try them all) – I also love that blogger that started the company… she’s hilarious.
