How to Style a Trench Coat
A trench coat is a hardworking wardrobe staple. It can be worn (almost) year-round and with so many ways to style one, it’ll be your new favorite outerwear piece. As one of my most-worn jackets in the fall months, I’m sharing how to style a trench coat, plus several trench coat outfit ideas.
Trench coats have a classic silhouette that has been around for generations and can easily be styled with pieces you already own. They’re an excellent layering piece and keep you warm during those transitional periods. It’s effortless and will elevate any outfit.

If you don’t have a trench coat in your outerwear rotation, I recommend starting with a classic beige trench coat. It’s the traditional trench style and is universally flattering. When looking for your first trench coat, find one that hits right around your calves. This is the most versatile in terms of proportions.

Trench coats are extremely versatile and can be styled in several different ways. You can wear yours paired with a sweatshirt and leggings or with a midi dress for an event. Don’t be afraid to wear yours with different pieces in your closet. Some of the best ways to style yours are with unexpected combinations!

While beige trench coats are a classic, there are so many other color trench coats that will blend seamlessly into your wardrobe. Once you have a beige one in your rotation, try incorporating in a black or olive colored trench coat.
