Fall 2024 Capsule Wardrobe
Out of all of the seasons, Fall is by far one of my favorites to shop for. With the cozy textures, lightweight layers, and gorgeous boots, getting dressed always feels new and fresh. And don’t get me started on the shades of autumn, they perfectly encapsulate everything I love about fall. As the temperatures start to cool off, I’ve been thinking a lot about my fall wardrobe and have put together my fall 2024 capsule wardrobe to usher in this new season!
What is a Capsule Wardrobe?
A capsule wardrobe is a curated wardrobe made up of versatile pieces that can easily be mixed and matched. These pieces make up the foundation for your seasonal wardrobe and are a testament to your personal style.
A capsule wardrobe not only includes different types of clothing items (tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear), but it also includes accessories such as footwear, handbags and belts. With a foundation of high-quality pieces, you’ll be able to keep these in your wardrobe for years and continue to build upon them.
How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe
When building a capsule wardrobe, you always want to start by considering what you already own and what holes need filling. At the beginning of each season, I always do a purge of my closet to help me further build out my capsule wardrobe and sort everything into three piles.
- I love it and reach for this regularly
- I don’t wear it and haven’t for over six months (and it’s not seasonal)
- Seasonal
If there are items that I’m on the fence about, I consider the fit, the style (is it a piece that is trendy?), whether it has sentimental value, and how I would style it if I wore it today. If I don’t have a strong case for keeping it, I will remove the item from my closet.
