Holiday Pink
Pink isn’t really a color I personally think of when planning holiday outfits. In fact, pink is one of those colors that I don’t really gravitate towards, well, ever. (Could the last time I wore pink be when I was pregnant with Harry?! Ha) It’s become a huge trend over the past decade, especially on the internet, with the emergence of “millenial pink.” I like the color fine but have always gravitated towards neutrals and more androgynous colors. My mind changed when I saw this Vince skirt. I had my eye on a caramel color but it kept selling out and I couldn’t snag one. I saw this muted rose and though, hmm, that’s neutral enough for me. I envisioned myself pairing it with a light cream sweater or even a charcoal grey. Then I saw this feminine, pink, pointelle sweater by Joie and knew it was a match made in heaven.
I’ve already worn this outfit to a holiday party! Both the skirt and sweater were splurges but because I live in Chicago, where winter lasts through March or April, I knew that these muted pinks would be worn well through the spring. I’ve mentioned before that before I purchase something, I force myself to imagine wearing it with items already in my closet. With this sweater, I can easily pair it with a leopard skirt, blue jeans, white jeans, even faded grey jeans! The skirt has a season-less hue; it can be worn with any color tank or tee in the summer and most neutral sweaters in the winter.
I love finding a good ‘look for less’ as well so in case you want to recreate this outfit with more inexpensive options, I’ve already done the leg work for you:
Similar pink silk slip skirts:
- This J Crew slip skirt in blush is rated amazingly AND priced right!
- You know I love a good H&M find and this midi skirt is a little different than all the other slip skirts as it has pleats, but it looks so much more expensive than it is!
- ASOS can be a tough site to navigate but for some reason I KNEW they’d have a great pink, slip skirt option for under $50 and here it is!
- Oooh, Free People did a good job with this dusty, rose slip skirt.
Similar pointelle sweaters:
- The hue on this J Crew sweater is more cotton candy pink but the sweater would look amazing with a lighter pink or cream skirt.
- A berry-hued sweater with statement sleeves that would look great with both wine and dusty pink.
- This ballet pink would look lovely with most colors–it’s the most neutral of the bunch!
- This Joie sweater isn’t a pointelle knit, but it’s the right color AND it’s on sale!
- You guys will probably all end up buying this H&M version because it’s ADORABLE and only $24!
I am OBSESSED with this outfit!
