Gradual (See Jane Wear)

I have such a love/hate relationship with the pre-fall season.  I don’t want summer to disappear, yet I long for fall clothing and am enticed by third pieces, boots, and sweaters at Nordstrom.  I promise though, you don’t need to put on your parka just quite yet–there is a way to buy now/wear now some of these transition pieces.  When shopping at Nordstrom, I gravitate towards dresses that I can wear now with bare legs and later with tights.  While the weather is still warm, I’ll pair with sandals; once it gets chilly, I’ll wear a bootie with bare legs.  Once it’s full on freezing, I’ll break out the tights.  Same with third pieces (that’s a fancy phrase for ‘jackets’)—I’ll wear one like this, from Nordstrom, over a light dress and then I’ll gradually wear more and more layers underneath.

And don’t worry, I’m definitely guilty of buying fall pieces early on with no intention of wearing them for a good month; I HAVE already bought a pair of over-the-knee boots for winter (hey, they might sell out and I really want them).  Hey, I’m human, after all.
