Style Maven (See Jane Find an Obscure Icon)

In honor of my time of California, I’d like to dedicate this post to the oh-so-stylish stylish Sweet Valley High gang.  While this series was published before I was even born, my sister had acquired quite the SVH collection and it quickly became a favorite of mine.  With a just quick glance at the covers, it was obvious to me at a young age that this crew had some stylish California kids with enviable wardrobes:

Lila Fowler had endless funds so naturally she looked great, but her style was bit too contrived for my taste.  Blair Waldorf, anyone?
Enid Rollins wore clothes from anthropologie before it even existed.  Can’t you just imagine her in an art studio in Brooklyn with her suspenders?
Amy Sutton was sort of vapid but I still loved her hair and totally preppy style.  I was also convinced that she was Zack Morris’ long lost sister.
Elizabeth Wakefield needed to let her hair down–literally.  I always wanted her to take the barrettes out of her hair and borrow something from Jessica’s closet.  Did you ever notice that her story lines were totally extreme?  (see:  kidnapping, comas)  I guess Francine Pascal had to do something to deflect from her boring and safe (but sweet) persona.
Jessica Wakefield was my personal style icon of the SVH kids.  Whether she was donning her acid wash jean jacket for a typical school day or a hot red dress for her older, college-aged boyfriend (with a mustache, I might add), she always knew how to dress the part.  She may not have been the smart twin, but she was definitely the fun one!

Did you read the Sweet Valley High books?  Who was your style icon of the series?
