Transition Mode (See Jane Wear)

J Crew tweed tee, Madewell leather skirt (options below), Gap flats (similar), 3.1 Phillip Lim bag

Since I work at a fashion start-up, I’m suddenly surrounded by plaids, wools and other fall textures; it’s hard not to assimilate even though the weather is still warm.  Leather will be back in full force again this fall and every time I pull out this skirt, I’m so glad I purchased it a couple years ago.  It’s almost season-less since I’m able to wear it so often.  When I bought it back in 2011, it seemed like a somewhat frivolous purchase (how many times will I wear a leather skirt, I thought), but I’m glad I bit the bullet–it’s a closet staple for me.

(**Here’s a few different alternatives for this skirt since it’s been sold out for awhile: this, this and this one.)

  1. @rebecca – either! it just depends on the dominant colors in your closet. personally, i wear more neutrals and navys than black so the cognac/brown worked better for me.

  2. who knew leather, neon, mint and peplum would have as much staying power as they do. I'm not complaining because i love em all! especially when you wore that mint blouse with this leather skirt! Prob my favorite combo of yours to date!

  3. I have a similar skirt from Anthropologie and I am always amazed and how much wear it gets- I am not exactly a leather skirt type of gal. It looks great with a thin, old tshirt but can also be office appropriate.

And I am ready for fall in Chicago too 🙂

  4. You are rocking this outfit, cutie pie! Seriously, I think this is just such a perfect transitional outfit, and I for one am SO excited about fall fashion and of course, those pumpkin spice lattes!

  5. Just found your site … very well done! Enjoying myself immensely.

On a side note, I'm in love with how you style your hair … polished w/o being fussy. Care to share a post on your tips/products?
