Do as I say, not as I do is the old adage we’ve all heard. I always tell my clients at work that when you live in a freezing city like Chicago, that the more coats, the merrier. They’re essentially an outfit in itself and you spend more than enough time wearing them. Well, from what you’ve seen, I only wear this coat. That may be true, but do as I say, not as I do (I do wear other coats, though–I promise).

i could not agree more! my husband gave me the nickname "coats" because i have so many. my argument is that in a cold boston winter, your coat is essentially your outfit! 🙂

I have the exact opposite problem here in the South. I always want to buy cute coats in the winter but I just can't justify buying them! I have coats from high school (I'm 24) that look brand new because I only wear them once or twice a year. Maybe I'll take your advice and splurge on one anyways 🙂

I can't blame you for putting that coat on repeat – a great coat (particularly J. Crew coats) are such an amazing wardrobe staple that should see the light of day again and again. I STILL wear the J. Crew coat I bought in 2003…I know it will stay in style forever, too! You look gorgeous!
