Chicago Favorites: Food (See Jane Eat)

I’ve received some emails asking for some of my Chicago favorites and thought it was high time I start compiling a list. My fair city really has so much to offer and there’s much beyond this list but hopefully this will start you in the right direction. Food is always at the top of the list when visiting new cities and I’ve provided a wide variety of favorites. I purposefully added restaurants in various neighborhoods as there’s lots to see beyond touristy downtown–hope you like them!
Brunch: Lula Cafe

Worth the Wait in Line: Hot Doug’s
Sushi: Toro
Drinks/People Watching: The Pump Room
Major Food Coma: Q
Italian Bites: Bar Toma

saddest thing about this post: I lived in Chi for 3 years and have never been to any of these places.. so lame of me! What neighborhood do you live in? Have you ever been to Bacci's pizza? They were part of the reason I gained 30 lbs living there! Nothing beats and Italian Beef and Vienna Beef dogs though, Chi town staples!

Yum! I love all kinds of food. I remember visiting Chicago when I was younger and trying my first deep dish pizza. I still love thin crusty NY pizza, but that one was very good too.
Ahhh I miss Chicago so much! 🙁 When I was there last Aug I ate at Pequod's for the first time and it was great! So good suggestion! 🙂

I'm a huge foodie…so is the hubby…so we've spent lots of evenings exploring the Twin Cities here in MN! There are some great spots here…and when we travel, we love finding other great spots around the country. Your recommends are going on our list!

This list is awesome! I am planning a trip to Chicago next month and was trying to find different places to eat. I will have to try a few (or all) of these places out.
I was wondering if you or any of your awesome readers could help me out with one thing though. A friend of mine who visited Chicago recommended I use a Chicago limousine service. I don't know if this would be worth it or not. I love walking, but I don't want to get lost. What are your thoughts? I appreciate any feedback.

I love this recipe, But I find that cooking in an oven dries out the beef too much, so I constructed my own waterbath out of empty yogurt containers and the heat of my own self righteousness so I could cook it sous vide.
