J Crew Wedding Boutique (See Jane Shop)

Touching what I’m not supposed to…

Well, aren’t you lucky?  It seems to be wedding week over here at See Jane.  I like to mix up my posts throughout the week, but I really want to share some pictures of my visit to the J Crew Wedding Boutique in NYC.  It’s gorgeous and impeccably decorated; I wish my living room looked just like this, naturally. Because I was overwhelmed and focused on dresses I didn’t even break out the camera that was in my bag.  Luckily, my good friend Maggie took a ton of pictures (God bless her).

This was my first time trying on wedding dresses and I will definitely need to try on a few more to get a gauge for what I like. (I’ll be checking some out next week with my mom and sisters while I’m home for Thanksgiving.)  I did really love one dress I tried on this weekend, but since my fiancĆ© reads this blog, I won’t post a picture of it–but I will show some others that I’m not getting (and you’ll see why).

Laughing, probably because it weighed 10 lbs and I felt like a flamenco dancer.
Pretty dress, but I felt like a Grecian column.
I liked this one, but liked the vest next to me better.

All in all the wedding boutique was a great experience.  Regardless of what dress I end up buying, I would definitely recommend it and wouldn’t mind stopping by the next time I’m in NYC.

  1. Jane, you look lovely. My advice can come in the form of destination wedding advice not exactly DIY. In fact, besides styling and designing – I can't think of anything I DIY šŸ™‚

Take a look at this dress posted by a cup of jo:

I think it would be perfect for a wedding in Mexico.

  2. You are going to make SUCH a beautiful bride!!! I'm so excited!!!
Trying on dresses was one of the funnest things I've ever done, also totally overwhelming!

  3. I love that last one, but I too agree that VEST!!!! Have you tried a short dress? I know you mentioned it, but I think it might be worth a shot! šŸ˜‰ I have a whole post dedicated to them – if you need some inspiration!

I am soo excited to here what direction you go!

PS- Excited for thanksgiving to come and then that means we can go get coffee and SHOP! šŸ˜‰

  4. AJ I freaking love these pictures! You look positively giddy!! You know the 2nd and 3rd dresses actually look really good on you…so I can't wait to see the one you eventually get. And I hope you snag the vest while you're out there!!

  5. Awwww you look so stunning sweetie…Awww:)
I am over the moon with the last dress and I cant wait to see what you will wear:)
    Hugs and kisses, my dear

Ps: Iā€™m hosting a Pistacho Press GIVEAWAY later today, so please join in šŸ™‚

  6. Oh, if I could go back & do it all over again, I think I would go to the J Crew Bridal Boutique, too.

    Just. for. that. vest.

It is the piece that was missing from my wedding. le sigh.

But seriously, I do think I would want to shop at the J Crew Boutique. It's simple but so timeless & beautiful. I'm so glad I found your blog. I like it sooo much!

  7. this is so sweet. you look beautiful in every one, but I love the grecian column one myself—so I commend you for your decisiveness! I tried on dresses in NYC and on day 2, was biting back vomit with a horrible hangover. I'm sure the ladies at Bergdorf LOVED me. Anyway, the 3rd one I tried ended up being the one! Good luck on this fun journey… and no hangovers!

  8. Aww wedding dress shopping! I just got married in July, and I had the best experience looking for a dress. I just found your blog through twitter, I really like it. Following now.
